This painting is a smaller version of a large 2-panel 3′ x 3′ painting that hangs over my sofa. This was an experiment with metallic copper and silver paints to depict an abstract version of the Monterey Cypress trees.
It lives happily in the living room of a dear friend!
When I first began painting these mandala-like designs, I created designs for specific people in my life, incorporating shapes or color schemes that reminded me of my loved ones.
This is one of my first hard-edge minimal-ish mandalas that I was really pleased with. It’s now covered in epoxy and more difficult to photograph, but it looks clear and vibrant in person.
